Description
Mildly updated for 1956, the full-size Ford passenger-car lines were extremely popular and successful in the face of Chevrolet’s massive market attack of 1955 and continued pressure from the various other GM divisions. Occupying the top echelon of Ford’s model lines, the Fairlane series, and in particular the swanky Crown Victoria hardtop, continued with select enhancements as the spearheads of Ford’s response. In addition to their winning style, Ford’s offerings for ’56 included not one, but three, choices of V-8 engines, ranging from 272ci to the 292ci “Thunderbird V-8” and the top 312ci “Thunderbird Special” V-8.
This early-production 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria was built on October 31, 1955 and equipped with the 292ci Thunderbird V-8 engine, rated 202 horsepower with the Fordomatic Drive automatic transmission. Benefiting handsomely from a total and very well-detailed and preserved restoration, the Crown Victoria sports an eye-catching two-tone Fiesta Red and Colonial White paint finish and very attractive, matching two-tone vinyl and cloth upholstery plus red carpeting. Passenger amenities and accessories include a heater/defroster, factory pushbutton AM radio, front/rear dual speaker switch, and tissue dispenser.
Exceptionally well-detailed throughout, the Crown Victoria features factory-correct components and finishes throughout the engine bay, including the OEM air cleaner and “So Clear” windshield-washer fluid bag. In addition to power steering, the Crown Victoria is equipped with a modern dual-circuit brake master cylinder and power booster, ensuring a relaxed driving experience. The underbody, frame, and suspension components retain OEM components and feature correct finishes, including factory-style Red Oxide primer paint. Excellent brightwork includes gleaming restored chrome and the irreplaceable and impeccable stainless trim that defines the glamorous first-generation Crown Victoria. Other highlights include the rear “Continental” spare-tire kit housing a spare wheel/tire under a steel case. The extended rear bumper houses dual exhaust outlets that deliver a throaty sound from the powerful 292ci Thunderbird “Y-Block” V-8 engine. Steel wheels mounting full bright hubcaps and 1950s-style whitewall tires finish off this iconic 1950s Ford. This vehicle shows approximately 22,102 miles. Appraised value of $105,000. Plus HST & registration fees. WE WILL TAKE ANYTHING IN ON TRADE! jason@groganclassics.com
