I am inquiring out of curiosity, why are the asking prices for young puppies and young dogs such an outrageous price? What happens when these dogs also need vet care, those costa are not cheap either? Are the new owners still willing to pay for those costs? Will there be an influx of dogs that are being bred in backyard puppy mills that end up seized or put down due to neglect?
I do understand that these animals do offer a lot of joy and companionship, but paying these overpriced prices does not make the new pet anymore adorable or loveable.
Do the buyers not realize that they are paying for the dog more than the price of housing or a few mortgage payments on a house that they could own?
Having bred and raised purebred dogs in the past, I am well aware that raising a couple of CKC registered small breed dogs is not as expensive as the asking price per pup, including the registration of the pups as a litter and the initial vet checks and vaccinations.
