We are seeking several experienced residential / renovation carpenters, as well as commercial formwork carpenters for projects in and around HRM and West Hants.
Successful candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills, be comfortable reading drawings and blueprints, and have a strong work ethic.
Projects for residential / renovation carpenters range from framing, to siding, trim, doors and windows, flashing, etc. Successful candidates should be comfortable delivering a variety of tasks with skill and precision.
Projects for formwork carpenters are primarily centred on commercial form work, foundations, and low to mid rise forming, as well as forming for civil projects such as chambers and tanks.
Candidates should be comfortable doing layout, handling materials, cutting a straight line, and sinking a nail without hitting it 14 times... Candidates MUST have a valid drivers license and their own vehicle, and the ability to make it to site before 7am, for a 7am start time. Candidates must have their own hand tools, nail bags, and PPE.
United prides itself on safety, so all successful candidates will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times, and participate in safety training and updates as required. This is non-negotiable.
Typical work days are 8 hours, plus lunch, Monday to Friday. Hours can range from 7am to 5pm. Additional hours are available for particularly ambitious carpenters.
Wages will be negotiated based on experience, and the value you are able to add to the organization. Wages will ONLY be discussed in person, during an in-person interview.
We are able to offer apprenticeships for carpenters looking to expand their skill set, and work towards a journeyperson or red seal designation. Help with exam prep is also available.
