Hydraulics Plus is a well-established company providing hard chrome plating, machine shop and hydraulic cylinder services. We have an immediate full time opening for a Machinist to join our team. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined and can work with little supervision in a shop environment.

We are a small employee shop and all duties would be interchangeable, including possibility of loading and unloading vehicles when needed. Successful applicant will be responsible for cleanliness and keeping an organized work area including equipment and shared responsibility of cleaning shop areas and safe work practices (including own steel toe boots).
Summary: Reporting to the Foreman, the Machinist operates machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to manufacture new parts as per sample or drawings or to repair existing parts.
Responsibilities
• Read and interpret blueprints, make drawing of existing parts in order to reproduce them
• Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathes, milling machines, drill press, hydraulic press, band saw and a variety of cutting and welding equipment
• Manufacture new parts such as shafts, barrels, pistons and glands
• Re-machine existing parts as required
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
• Keeping shop and work areas clean and tidy, sweeping floors, dumping garbage into dumpster, general equipment and property maintenance
• Disassemble and reassemble cylinders and other mechanical components as required
• Provide assistance to co-workers as required
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
• Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
• Performs other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
• Three to Five years’ experience as a Machinist Journeyman or Apprentice
• Strong mathematical skills
• Completion of Occupational Health and Safety course, WHMIS and First Aid considered an asset
Physical Demand
• Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest height using a proper lifting technique. Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane.
