Exterior Wood Care & Staining Specialist The Exterior Wood Care & Staining Specialist is responsible for executing all aspects of deck staining projects, including wood wash, sanding and stain application. This role works in pairs and is expected to come in at around 20 hours weekly between May 2025 - September 2025. Key duties: - Participate in paid pre-season training on all aspects of this work - Read, understand and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) containing detailed instructions for each service - Read, understand and execute work orders detailing the washing, sanding and staining work - Communicate with residential and commercial clients to facilitate work processes (locate exterior tap, move customer’s furniture out of the work area, etc.) - ADVANTAGE: Drive own vehicle to and from work sites around the GTA and for pick up and delivery of equipment and materials (at least one worker in each crew must have own vehicle) - Perform wood wash processes on exterior wood surfaces - Operate gas pressure washer with precision - Perform sanding processes on exterior wood surfaces using hand and power sanding techniques and equipment - Operate corded belt sander, palm sander, oscillating tool with sanding attachment - Operate angle grinder with sanding disc attachment - Be familiar with several different types and brands of stain products - Apply several different types and brands of stain products according to manufacturer and company application guidelines - Use a paint brush and mini roller - Operate exterior paint sprayer (advantage, not necessary; training provided) - Complete ladder safety training - Use ladders of varying designs, including step and extension ladders - Use scaffold (rarely, training provided for everything) - Fill out standard paperwork recording work progress - Sell/offer clients additional services, for 10% commission on value sold Qualifications/ Helpful knowledge/background: • Good communication skills • Good personal grooming • Own vehicle is a huge advantage • G Driver's license or equivalent is an advantage • Ability to work outside in summer for up to 8-hour shifts • Experience operating small engines (lawnmower, boat motor, snowblower, etc.) is an asset • Experience using a pressure washer is an advantage • Ability to perform physical work for up to 8-hour shifts (standing, kneeling, crouching, laying down, etc.) • Painting experience (interior/exterior) is a huge asset • Time management
