Our client, a well established provider of a wide range of electrical and instrumentation, automation and communication services, primarily for clients in the oil & gas industry is looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Estimator, preferably with industrial experience in the Oil and Gas industries to join their team. This position will combine office work with some time spent on construction sites reviewing progress and meeting with project stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities include the following: • Analyze the costs of and prepare estimates on construction projects. • Attend client meetings • Estimate and generate change orders and RFI’s • Assist with client MOC development, project lookbacks, internal systems design and implementation. • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations with sub-contractors • Establish and maintain tendering processes • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, • and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates • Work with construction supervisors and managers to ensure accurate and up-to-date reports • Utilize estimation software platforms (e.g. Sage Estimating)
Successful candidates will have the following skills, experience, personal attributes and certifications: • Strong team player with a positive and collaborative attitude • Strong safety orientation at all times (wear personal protective equipment such as hard hats, gloves, cover-alls and steel-toed boots when on construction sites.) • Completion of a program in estimation (CIQS, ASPE) and/or or several years of experience working as a qualified tradesperson in the electrical and/or instrumentation trades. • The ability to work with estimation software • Previous experience with Navisworks , MS Project , MS Word and MS Excel • Previous Industrial Electrical experience • Previous Industrial Instrumentation experience • H2S Alive, Occupational First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS are all considered to be assets for this role
