Opportunity: Leading industrial service company has openings for full-time, long-term positions for industrial trades in North Western BC specifically; Kitimat, Terrace and Burns Lake. Journeymen and Apprentices with experience positions available.

The Millwright is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This will be accomplished through the safe and effective use of hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools. This position also requires that the Millwright troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. The Millwright is also responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment, such as motors, pumps, valves, controls, and other machines.
Working Conditions: • Work will be indoor and outdoor often in rough terrain and under typical Northern BC weather conditions. Work is regularly undertaken in environmentally sensitive locations. • Working in and around noise and dust typical to industrial sites • 10-12 hour day and night shifts • Shift rotation changes per location (typically Monday-Friday or 14 on, 7 off) • Living local or willing to relocate given preference, camp an option • Benefits provided by appropriate union (discipline dependant) • Must be a team player willing to lend a hand whenever assistance is required to complete the job
Responsibilities: • Perform all planned maintenance (Preventive & Predictive) assigned in a timely manner and reactive and emergency activities. • Repair and capture detailed root cause and countermeasures of breakdowns and communicate effectively to management and peers. • Ensures effective and timely on-floor support to the maintenance department members, including regular, off-shift and weekend coverage as required. • Assist in the on-going improvement of work order system • Works with the maintenance and engineering team to implement permanent solutions for equipment and process problems • Support the effort to develop and document maintenance procedures, one-point lesson and implement a competency-based training program. • Works as a team member on small and large technical projects. • Performs additional work as required • Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed. • Complete all paperwork as required. • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
Qualifications and Experience: • Red Seal Journeyman millwright ticket • Thorough knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. • Ability to work at heights or in cramped spaces. • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. • Good written and verbal communication skills • Strong knowledge of work safe practices • Minimum 3 years of experience in related field • Industrial Mechanic (millwright) college diploma or relevant education
Physical & Other Requirements: • Work will be indoor and outdoor often in rough terrain and under typical Northern BC weather conditions. Work is regularly undertaken in environmentally sensitive locations. • Working in and around noise and dust typical to industrial sites • 10-12 hour day and night shifts • Shift rotation changes per location (typically Monday-Friday or 14 on, 7 off) • Living local or willing to relocate given preference, camp an option • Benefits provided by appropriate union (discipline dependant) • Pre-access basic medical required • Pre-access, post-incident drug and alcohol testing requirement • Stand or walk for long periods of time • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time • Ability to lift up to 25kg • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools • Valid driver’s license and drivers abstract an asset • Must have possession of CSTS 09 (Construction safety training systems). Successful candidates without it will be set up with appropriate training required.
