About Us:

Traditional Cut Stone has worked on many of North America’s most dramatic stone buildings including universities, cathedrals and government buildings. We’re specialists in architectural conservation and historic stone restoration. With 45,000 square feet of workspace and the largest number of traditional stone carvers under one roof in North America, we have had the ability and privilege to work on numerous large-scale restoration projects such as; Minnesota State Capitol, Toronto’s Old City Hall and St. Michael’s Cathedral.

Salary: To Be Negotiated Based on Experience

Schedule:

· 7:00AM- 4:30PM Monday-Thursday, 7:00AM-3:30PM Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

· Mississauga, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Position Overview: We are looking for a passionate and experienced Stone Carver who possesses a deep understanding of traditional cut stone methods. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, exceptional hand skills, and a strong appreciation for the significance of stone carving. Working closely with our team of artisans, you will contribute to the creation of bespoke architectural elements that uphold our commitment to quality and authenticity.

Responsibilities:

Execute intricate stone carving projects according to architectural plans and specifications.

Utilize traditional hand tools and techniques to shape, carve, and finish stone surfaces with precision.

Interpret design concepts and translate them into tangible works of art, ensuring adherence to aesthetic and structural requirements.

Collaborate with fellow craftsmen and project stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes within specified timelines.

Maintain a safe and organized workspace, adhering to best practices for the handling and storage of materials and tools.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Stone Carver, with a demonstrated portfolio of completed projects showcasing proficiency in traditional cut stone techniques.

Profound knowledge of different types of stone and their properties, as well as the tools and methods used in stone carving.

Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to craftsmanship, ensuring the highest standards of quality in every project.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate ideas clearly.

Commitment to safety protocols and best practices in the handling of stone materials and tools.

Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
