Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!

Meet Chicka – a tiny little love bug. She is looking for her one true love, and needs that special person to keep her loved and held for the rest of her life.

Chicka has some minor special issues that the one true love will be happy to accommodate – 1) she has no teeth left so she’ll need a special high-quality soft food and 2) she has dry eyes so she will need drops every day. Such minor things when you look at that adorable face!

Our kissy, lovey, give-me-belly-rubs, Chicka is a bit nervous around other dogs, so she will need to be the centre of attention of only one person. She will bark and become anxious when crossing paths with other dogs, but will move on with some reassurance and redirection. She doesn’t mind a quick drive in the car now and then, but does prefer to walk, as it can sometimes give her anxiety. She is also not a fan of grooming, so a professional will need to be on call. This can change with patience and repetition. She will also need to be with a semi-retired or retired family/person as she will bark when left alone.

Walks are a happy thing for this doll – she is good on her harness and will get excited when squirrels or bunnies cross her path. Redirection away from other dogs is necessary, but doesn’t detract from the fun of the rest of the adventure.

More than anything, Chicka just wants to find her one true love, her forever person. She wants all the hugs, attention, and loving she can get.

If you are the match for this gorgeous, loving companion, please submit the adoption application at www.ckanimalrescue.com

Chicka is up to date with vaccinations, and is spayed.

    Adoption fee: $375
