Rehome Dog - 1.5yrs Mix Breed, Meet Sammy

Sammy is Looking for Her Perfect Home Meet Sammy, a 1.5-year-old, 45 lb mixed-breed pup (possibly Border Collie/Terrier) with a heart of gold and so much love to give. She’s incredibly loyal to her family and trusted circle — a sweet, intelligent girl who thrives in the right environment. We love her deeply, which makes this decision so hard. I adopted Sammy from the Humane Society in September. She settled in quickly and became a loving companion. I had envisioned trail runs and city adventures, but Sammy’s reactivity to vehicles, toddlers, and other leashed dogs makes our busy urban lifestyle too overwhelming for her. Walks during peak hours are now a challenge, and I can’t give her the calm, open space she truly needs. Sammy Needs a Home Where: • She has space to run — ideally an acreage or private property • There are no toddlers or reactive dogs in the home • Her people have experience with reactive dogs and know how to support them • She may do well with calm, well-socialized dogs after slow, proper introductions At Home, Sammy is a Dream: She’s affectionate, intelligent, and calm indoors. She’ll happily spend her day lounging in the yard, playing tug-of-war, chewing on toys, or relaxing close by. She loves sniffy walks and exploring nature — as long as she has a calm handler to guide her. Sammy is wonderful with my elderly parents and does well with older children. She plays well with her dog cousins and is attentive to their cues. But she does not seem to love the neighbor’s free-roaming cats. Why I’m Rehoming Her: • On leash she’s reactive to most dogs, cars, bikes • Public spaces, busy neighborhoods, and popular trails are stressful for her • She needs more freedom, space, and consistent, experienced support This isn’t a decision I’ve made lightly, but I truly believe Sammy will thrive in the right home. She’s spayed, house-trained, up-to-date on vaccinations — and most importantly, ready to give her whole heart to someone who understands her.
