Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!

Kijiji Pet Welfare Partners:

Description

The puppies are chosen based on breed standard and behavior.

Information on Co-ownership : You are the owner/guardian and I am the co-owner/breeder. Both names appear on the CKC certificate. Puppies are sold at pet cost. Once the puppy turns 2 years old health testing will be done to determine the dog is a good candidate to keep for breeding purposes. All health testing related to breeding will be at the breeder’s expense. If the dog does not pass health testing, he/she will be sterilized at owner's expense. Only the breeder has the right to breed the dog. The breeder accepts to take the dog, free of charge, when the owner is away on vacation, if the breeder is available. Discount is given to co-owners on grooming. All expenses including food, veterinarian fees, grooming, education, sterilization are the owner's responsibility.

Male: Will be brought to breeders location for breeding. Compensation of $250 will be given to the owner after each breeding has produced 4 puppies or more, $150 for 3 puppies, $100 for 2 puppies, $50 for 1 puppy.

Female: Will be brought to breeders location for breeding. The breeder can use the dog for 3 breeding’s in her lifetime (if her health permits it). Birth will take place at the breeder’s location, will be brought 4 days prior birth and until she weans her puppies (5-7weeks). The owner will be able to visit mom and pups during her stay. Compensation of $250 will be given to the owner per puppy sold with the exception of 3 puppies born by c-section and puppies kept by the breeder.

We currently have one female available (picture 1 ) for the program. We are expecting another litter in the spring that we are looking for co-owners as well.
