UPDATE: NEW MAPEX 600 SERIES HARDWARE PACK ADDED SEE BOTTOM OF AD
This Drum Set is an absolute tone master, you can get fat and punchy, bonham style deep toms, high and jazzy, great brush stroking and swishing, and the cymbals are the nicest set in my inventory that's taken me over a decade to collect. This is one of rare kits that can do Jazz, Rock, Fusion, Funk, Soul, and do them all not just well, but amazingly and with ease!
This kit is for sale as a whole kit only, I would keep the cymbals, or the snare, but there will be no parting out of individual pieces like that. Cymbals won't be broken up, Neither will the kit.
Here's what you get.
PDP Mainstage 22"x18" Bass Drum with 7 ply poplar shell. Black hardware and matching double tom mount, 10 mini lugs, wood hoops with carbon metallic sparkle wrap finish all around. Bought new to upgrade kick drum two years ago. Lightweight, and nice and deep. ($300 w/ tom Mount) Mint Condition
Toms Hi/Mid/Low 12"x10"/13"x11"/16"x16" ($350)
All the toms are Mapex Venus Series,9-ply Mahogany (This is before they were made in china and switched to Basswood Shells) Nice deep toms with a great full sound that isn't found in today's shorter tom designs. These are in pristine showroom quality, and are around 20 years old.
Shell Pack of Bass and toms (4 Piece) - $700
Snare Drum 14"x3" "Precious Metals" series piccolo snare. Made of Phosphor Bronze, with original Remo Renaissance Mapex heads. With Black Nickle hoops, tension rods, and throwoff/hardware. Amazing tang, ting, and deep snare sound in the middle that sounds like a 5-7" deep drum this was not the original snare with this kit. ($400) I have played this drum alongside Ludwig Supraphonics, Black Beauties, and to me it's the best sounding one I've found. Incredible depth of sound from a small drum. Most sensitive snare I've come across with a wide range of variety, I'll only sell this snare with the kit.
Cymbals - All UFIP Handmade in Italy, Rotocast,
B20 Bronze: 24" 60's Sizzle Ride $350 18" 70's Crash Ride $250 (This is the nicest crash ride I've ever heard) 15" UFIP Exotic Crash (Bought new for 300$) 200$ 10" 50's Splash $100
B8 Bronze: 13.75" Hi-Hats $250
Cymbal Pack: $1000
All the top/front heads are Earthtone White American Calfskin heads. All the resonant heads are original Mapex, and PDP on the Bass Drum. (4 Earthtone heads, 22", 12", 13", 16" set me back over $250$ to import from the USA, now with inflation and poor exchange rate, these would cost 400 to replace) They are remarkable heads which eliminate overtones and have a very warm and thick sound reminiscent of 70's rock tone when tuned low, and that amazing jazz sustain found on the older kits when tuned a little tighter.
You may think this is a high price for a not brand new kit, but seriously, watch the video, listen to the tone, this drums will blow your mind for tone. Why get an Orion, or Saturn or Pro-M when you can get a full kit for less than half the price which has even better sound? If you don't want the Earthtone heads (which i would not recommend because they are the main awesome tone component aside from the mahogany) I would take 150$ off the price of the kit.
This is the ONLY drum kit in my collection that I have never gigged with. I use it specifically for teaching, and recording, because the tone is incomparable. There are harmonics found in these drums that I've never found in other kits.
I'm not looking for any trades for this kit, Cash Money is King!
I don't really need to sell them but if you are a serious tone monster like me, this has one of the widest spectrums of sound possible that a drum set can produce in a 5 piece/5 cymbal setup.
Drums are for sale without cymbals, or Cymbals for sale as a pack, no parting out these babies. Sorry.
