This would make a great PLUMBER'S Job-Site Radio or this would fit nice in a shop or garage or rec. room or man cave or you could have a party with tunes anywhere you want, since it runs on 12 volts!
Since I had this car stereo sitting on the shelf downstairs, I decided to build this between Christmas & New Year's 2015.
The SONY Media Center is an AM/FM Stereo w/ a Tune Tray behind the detachable face that's made for an I-Pod inside or a Sony Walkman can fit inside also. If you use an I-Pod, then you can go thru your music by the controls on the face. I have the original box, w/ the manuals, wiring diagrams, etc.
The housing & the base-plate for the unit are aluminum checker-plate. The raceways & the fittings are constructed from white PVC pipe fittings. The detachable speakers are 5' round marine grade speakers wired w/ about 4' to 6' of speaker wire to allow for a better stereo effect.
There is a real car antenna on top for proper AM/FM reception, but you have to have it near a window if you use it indoors or outside to get AM stations properly.
The Blackberry Playbook in the videos does not come with the stereo. I just set it on top to show where it could sit while it was being used. The battery box does not come with it either, unless you want to purchase it separately. There is another You Tube Video on my You Tube site, that shows it with the speakers detached!
