Description

Perennial flower. Full sun. Sow the dry seedhead and collect the seed to sow immediately in the fall a few weeks before the ground freezes or store in fridge at about 13 degrees Celsius (55 degrees F) and sow the following spring. Cover seed about an inch of soil. During the growing season, provide alliums with evenly moist, but not soggy soil. Cut back watering in the dormant season as to avoid root rot. Height 15-20 inches tall, 10-15 inches wide. Fertilize once a week or two. Blooms early summer. After blooming, allow foliage to die back naturally; don’t cut it off while still green since it feeds the bulbs and sets them up for a successful flower display the following year. A focal point when closely planted in groups of 5 or more.
