Siemens S7-200 PLC is widely used in small application in a lot companies and plants because of its powerful functions. It has two pulse outputs and High-Speed Counters for stepper motor and encoders. You can buy a simple stepper motor and control it with Pulse output from the PLC. You can learn a lot from this training unit combining with the videos like in you-tube.
