This beauty is mint. Sharp like a peppermint. Entertaining like a Mojito! It has a phono input so you can finally connect your amazing vintage turntable you bought to impress your friends. It can drive up to 4 oomphy speakers to let everyone know you really mean it.
It was made in the golden age of Hi-Fi, but I think the silver age sounds more appropriate! With its real wood veneer (unlikely anything exotic, but you can always pretend) and aluminum finish, it is more attractive than you will ever be. It isn't just a pretty face though. It is 47 years old but still doesn't have any medical record. It never smoked. Starts swiftly and can go on for days at length without even sweating! It is seriously underrated. I doubt you will ever need more than 30% of its power. It is there if you or your neighbours need it though!
It has beautiful, neutral sound. It doesn't colour your music. Unbiased character, neither too warm or too bright. Of course in this price category. It is a great first step into Hi-Fi world!
AKAI is a very underrated brand in North America. They produced some fine pieces on par with Marantz, Pioneer, Yamaha, or Sony; however, you can get them for much less $$$ as they are not that collectible (for now). Don't overpay for a sticker. Impress your friends with an alternative taste! Don't think AKAI appreciation is rare though. Check what was and is still being used in recording studios across the globe. You will more likely than not find AKAI gear there. I love AKAI as many of my records were recorded and mastered on AKAI gear. Talking about 70s DUB, reggae music here but not exclusively.
The unit is in perfect condition. Works beautifully and drove any speakers I threw at it. I am selling as I am buying another AKAI and don't have space for two.... I actually do but my girlfriend says I don't. Go figure.
A lot of inputs for all your vintage and modern needs such as record players, cassette decks, digital streamers, external DACs, CD players, Blu-Rays, mobile phones, and so on. Amazing phono input for your record player and a very good tuner for radio buffs. Stereo or mono operation. The Loudness button comes in handy if you want even more thump when watching the newest blockbuster but you feel pity for the neighbours
I am more than happy to help you set everything up and provide gear recommendations such as streamers, streaming TV, DACs, CD players, and speakers to match your music taste, aesthetic, and space.
