    Description

Smith Corona electric typewriter that uses type II-A cartridges. Very good condition, seems to be working entirely and correctly. Model number on bottom of the machine says 6E, but seems to be a model 2200 or C620 per the original manual. Patent says 1976.

Makes multiple copies when using carbon paper (some included). Has adjustments for paper thickness and for key touch. Multiple tabs can be set. Inserting and aligning paper is very easy.

About 40 years old, it has never been used at length, and has not been used except to test possibly since the mid-1980's.

Original case is in very good condition also.

I did check around to see if cartridges are available for this model and the answer seems to be yes. You will need them as the ones included are not crisp, more like faint. Good enough to test with.

Smith Corona 17657 C17657 Type IIA Coronamatic seems to match. There may only be one side-loading cartridge size with a variety of purposes available.

The idea with this model is that there is no playing around with winding ribbons. The ribbon cartridges can go in and out from the right side at the push of a button. There is also a correcting cartridge - if memory serves, if you make a mistake when using a correctable cartridge, you can pull out the that cartridge and put in the correcting cartridge, make the correction then put that cartridge back in. There is also some correcting tape that I think is used by covering over a mistake so it can be re-typed. Not sure if the cartridges are "endless", but this can be checked.

Why would anyone want an electric typewriter these days? You might well ask. If you want to produce a legible document that has no electronic duplicate, a typewriter can do that.

Note: Location shows Owen Sound - this is misleading as I actually am very near Durham, ON, which is about 33 km south of Owen Sound, 24 km north of Mount Forest, 18 km east of Hanover. (Durham itself is not a Kijiji location option).

Note: pickup to be made at a local public landmark in town here. I offer a fifteen minute window at a mutually agreed upon time. If you miss the window, you will have to start fresh and ask all over again. In the case of an electric item, this presents a problem to discuss. I used to have an inverter, perhaps you have one or can borrow one.

Note: alternatively, the item can be made available in Georgetown or Guelph. Not quickly, but possible. Depending on the item, you may have to make a deposit via e-transfer as a sign of good faith.

Note: if you are reading this ad, know that I pull fulfilled ads immediately, so don't ask if I still have this item, assume I do.
