The following is a small "independent review for the lens that I found on an internet site: Lens Review: I can recommend this lens: Yes | Price: $80.00 US / $110 CAD | Rating: 10 Pros: Fast, sharp, lightweight, yet solidly built. Very capable in lowlight (and daylight). Flare resistance is very good. Cons (but not really a con): Slightly less vibrant colors than my Pentax 35mm, but on the other hand it produces more 'natural' colors. >>>> I had the Pentax SMC M 35/2.8, a great lens. However, I needed a wider lens, also a better lowlight performer. Sadly, the Pentax K/M/A 28mm F2 were way over my budget, so I settled with this one. I bought this lens in almost unused condition, paired with a Pentax KM interchangeable adaptall mount, complete with it's original case for $80 US + the exchange rate and the import fees. It's worth the price I paid, thats for sure. In my opinion, colors are a tiny bit less vibrant then Pentax 35mm, but this also means a more natural look, so it's not really a con. On sharpness, it's very much on a par with some of my best Pentax primes I already tested. I also like the paint-like soft bokeh this lens produces. Build quality is great, feels like this lens can take quite a beating. Focus ring is quite pleasant to play with, generous amount of DOF making focusing a breeze. It seems not to have as much as a focus turn as my M 35/2.8, but for me this translates to faster easier focusing. This lens is a reliable performer in lowlight and daylight. I used to boost ISO to 800 or more in lowlight to get decent pictures with my M 35/2.8, but with this lens I played at 400 and the results are very good and pleasing. I also tried to shoot facing the sun and I am amazed at this lens ability to tackle flare, it's maybe even better than Pentax SMC lenses.
