Sawmill Production Worker: We are seeking responsible, respectful and energetic candidates who want to work in a dynamic team environment. Sawmill Production workers are an integral part of maintaining the smooth operation of the milling process. Reporting to the Sawmill Supervisor, you will perform various tasks related to production and maintenance and will train in various areas of the mill. This position involves following instructions, lifting and manual labour. Position Summary: • Physically handle lumber so that every log/board is ready for the next operation. • Operate control panels to move lumber through the mill. • Perform clean up indoor/outdoor; • Perform inventory counts. • Clean during work downtimes the areas inaccessible during operations. • Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather and terrain conditions. • Perform other related duties as required. About you: • Enthusiastic, positive attitude. • Able to understand and communicate work instructions, safety procedures and policies. • Ability to take direction is required as on the job training is provided. • Able to work in a fast paced production environment. • Communicate clearly with supervisors, maintenance personnel and co-workers. • Hand-eye coordination, quick decision making abilities, strong problem solving skills; ability to analyze and troubleshoot. • Clear understanding of Metric and Standard measure. • You prefer working with your hands. • You have a safety first attitude and a healthy respect for machinery. Required Assets: • Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory. Operators must supply, maintain and wear their own CSA approved steel toe boots and gloves. Hearing protection and safety glasses are supplied by the company. • Are flexible in your schedule to accommodate shift work as required. • You are at least 18 years of age. • You are punctual and reliable. • Able to lift 75 lbs safely. • You have your own reliable transportation – no bus routes available. • Ability to be on your feet for the duration of your shift. Preferred Assets: • Previous experience or knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset. • Ability to operate a skid steer and or a telescopic handler. • Experience with diesel engines, electrical equipment/mechanically inclined. • Adaptable to varying work routines.
