2019 Fruit Farm Labourer

This is a seasonal full-time job. This job involves any job associated with a horticultural farm, such as but not limited to planting, row cover, hand harvesting fresh strawberries, blueberries, vegetables , weeding, irrigation, cultivation, stone/wood picking, examine produce for quality and prepare for market. Work is outdoors, hot , cold, dusty and could be a wet/damp environment. It requires hand eye coordination, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, bending, standing, repetitive tasks and ability to distinguish between colours.
Must be physically fit to meet the demands of the job. Must have proper footwear and rain suit. Must be organized, have good judgment, flexibility and be a team player. Must be available as required, such as days , evenings, weekends. Hours of work are dictated by weather and crop ripening schedule. Job is located in a rural area. Own transportation is required as public transportation is not available. Hourly rate is $11.00/hour or the prevailing wage rate. No degree, certificate or diploma required. Experience is an asset.
There are 8 positions to start Apr 15/19. There are also 8 positions to begin June 1/19 and 8 available July 1/19 that involves all that is listed above and also, the ability to operate machinery such as tractors, farm trucks, planting/harvesting equipment, loaders and fencing. Hours of work are dictated by weather and crop ripening schedule. 30-72 hours / week. All dates are crop and weather dependent. All jobs conclude at the end of the 2019 crop season.
