This 1978 vintage El Degas guitar is in very good shape (a few minor scratches) and plays and sounds fantastic. The much sought after MT-18 was one of their top models (perhaps the top), built in Japan during the era of the Martin and Gibson lawsuits against El Degas and other Japanese builders (because their guitars were such close mimics of the famous Martin and Gibson design, playability, and sound). I believe the Japanese builders lost the lawsuit because they were so close. Compare the sound and playability to anything new anywhere near this price and the value will be obvious. You can't get this under $1000 besides including a $150.00 case.
This guitar is one of those built in the stringed instrument workshops in Japan (GenGakki) that built all the OEM Japanese guitars of the era but because It was inspected and signed by famed Japanese Luthier G Yamada it shows it was from one of the higher quality workshops that built the better guitars. Very sought after.
