Terada Gakki "Thumb" Dove MIJ

Here I have a very interesting vintage japanese guitar made in the Terada Gakki Factory some time in the late 70's or early 80's. Nice, tight-grained solid spruce top with a flamed maple back and sides, both of which are likely laminate. Don't let that fool you though- this guitar has a great sound and the fretboard is in excellent shape with lots of fret life left. Japanese Luthiers are legendary for being able to elicit great sounds from laminated woods and this guitar is also possibly 50 years old so it's got that nice vintage sound. The action is great and there's some saddle left for adjustments. Truss rod is in working order. Terada Gakki is one of the top factories in Japan and makes guitars for such brands as Epiphone (Elite), Fender Japan and Gretsch to name a few. All of these instruments are considered world class and the factory has a couple of in-house brands of which "Thumb" is one. Thx for geeking out with me :) This guitar is missing the label in the body and someone, somewhere along the way has refinished the headstock with an eagle inlay which is very unique and cool. I am fairly confident that this is some iteration of the western/dove models in the link. If you're still reading, you are a japanese guitar nerd like me and understand that it's often difficult or even impossible to definitively state what exactly a guitar from the late 70's is, even when you have a model number. In this case, I don't even have that, hence the price which, for a Japanese made guitar from a quality factory is a steal. I also purchased an aftermarket pickguard that is a pretty good facsimile of the Gibby dove pickguard which I'll throw in if you're interested in returning the instrument to its original design.
