Masato Yokoo No 30 Handmade Concert Classical Guitar.
Amazing work by the talented luthier. Hand-built in Saitama, Japan in 2012.
Masato is the son of Shunsuke Yokoo, one of the most skilled luthiers in Japan. Yokoo senior studied guitar making under the famous Masaru Kohno in 1964. Three years later Shunsuke established his own workshop - the Yokoo Guitar Studio. Sadly, Shunsuke passed away in January 2023. Masato is in charge of the worksop today.
Each of the Yokoo guitars are extremely well built and deliver excellent tone. They can easily put to shame any instrument in the the $3000-$6000 range made by bigger names. This No 30 is not an exception.
The tone of this guitar is amazing. Very well balanced highs and lows with powerfull midrange and prominent high end. Impressive volume and sustain.
It's definitely a high end instrument suitable for live performance and recording.
It is well set up and maintained, has a very comfortable neck, it'a a pure joy to play.
Set up with D'Addario Carbon High Tension strings
Condition
Despite being over 12 years old, the guitar remains in excellent overall condition. The top has a few small dings. The lower edge has a couple of small, barely noticeable dings. There are some light scratches and swirls on the back and sides. Can be buffed out if necessary. The back of the headstock has about 5 or 6 dings (seen on the photo)
