The Guild JF-55 was introduced in 1989 and discontinued in 2001 when the Westerly factory closed. The JF-55 was the top-of-the-line jumbo with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides and a 3-piece South American Mahogany neck. White binding on the top and back with deluxe pearl inlay on the headstock. The bound ebony fingerboard had block inlays with abalone wedges. The bridge pins had abalone dots. Gold tuners & scalloped bracing.

A true powerhouse in every respect, this Guild has incredible resonance and a ringing, near-endless sustain. The sound is distinctive and nuanced, with a clarity and richness achieved thanks to the solid rosewood back and sides and jumbo body size. This Guild is an ideal strummer that has cut without being strident and low-end fullness without being overly boomy.

The mahogany neck has a fairly slender C shape with consistent depth and moderate shoulder as you travel up the bound ebony fretboard. The original slender frets are intact, showing only light wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending beneath the B and High E strings until fret 6, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 5/8" scale and the nut is a hand-carved piece of bone measuring 1 11/16". An upscale model, the fretboard on the JF-55 features multi-ply binding and pearl block inlays bisected by abalone Vs, and the headstock features Guild's signature G shield logo.
