Description

The Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC) was established in 1966 and is a leader in applied social research, social policy analysis and community development approaches to social justice. Our mission is to work with communities in building a just and healthy society for all. We are a non-partisan, registered non-profit society and a federally registered charity. We are a provincial organization with over 16,000 members, governed by a Board of Directors that is representative of all regions of British Columbia.

Job Description & Duties: • Review applications and participate in the selection and admission of community-based organizations to appropriate programs; • Collaborate with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to identify needs and develop programs and services that address social, economic, and accessibility related issues within the community. • Preparation and organization of transparent, and legally sound grant agreements. • Implement programs and other community and social service programs throughout the Province; • Implement and organize the delivery of specific services within the community; including tracking progress, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring deadlines are met. • Maintain contact with other social service agencies and organizations involved with clients to provide information on programs and initiatives; • Manage and implement community outreach initiatives offered by SPARC BC; • Coordinate and establish partnerships with community-based organizations; • Maintain accurate records of all program activities including budgets, resources, and outcomes; • Create detailed reports for senior management outlining progress of all programs; • Provide assistance on grant writing, fundraising, and budgeting activities related to the programs; • Collaborate with other organizations, government agencies, and community groups to leverage resources, share best practices, and coordinate efforts to address community needs. • Analyze data from multiple sources to evaluate effectiveness of programs and services offered by the organization; • Oversee fundraising activities and preparation of public relations materials.

Skills Required: • Fluent in English; • Completion of secondary school is required; • A minimum of 1 years experience related to community support/program co-ordinating.
