Nice Set of 1897 Cast Iron Ceiling Grates Vents

This set is marked: Manufactured by the Adams Company Dubuque Iowa Design Patent Aug 31 1897 These would go around a chimney as it came up through the floor. By rotating the inner grate, air is allowed to pass up from the warm stove below. When not required, the grate can be closed and the warm air kept below. Functional or vintage decoration. Nice to have the detailed maker and date of 1897 cast into the outer edge. The pictures show the grates in both open and closed positions. No cracks. Located west of Ottawa near Lanark.
