NOT FOR REHOMING: Lovely Briar (aka Big Betty) is looking for a year-round intermediate/advanced part boarder (rider) 25mins from Bracebridge, Huntsville, and Port Carling. Briar is a 12 year old 16+ hand spotted draft mare who goes W/T/kind of C (canter is still a work in progress due to her very large stride and habit for forehandedness). She is a loyal and hardworking pleaser who has a calm, brave and quiet nature. She is very forgiving, honest and not easily spooked. Her puppy dog personality (and similarly giant ears) will win your heart once she gets to know and trust you, and she is not known to be mareish. She has great ground manners, but does require a calm and aware handler due to her size and occasional quirks (aka. Grass). Briar’s wish list from her rider is as follows: -soft hands, a quiet demeanour and strong legs to keep her from getting back into a habit of heaviness (or at least a willingness to learn those things) -ample time to love on her, and treat her like their best friend and queen (she loves her grooming time) -lots of healthy treats available in their pockets -consistency and reliability

Briar is an excellent Liberty horse, is great on the on-site trails in a group where she prefers to lead, and has experience in trail patterns, dressage, mounted archery and skijorring. She is a capable jumper on occasion, but showing is not a consideration for her due to her build, and to keep her sound for the long haul. She is best for pleasure, companionship, connection and fitness. Briar is at a wonderful smaller barn with top notch care and coaching. It has one indoor, and two outdoor arenas, a tack house, and trails. The few other owners/boarders are very friendly, welcoming and of mixed ages and interests. A regular lesson program is required for Briar (at least at first) to keep up her training. Small group or private lessons are available daytime, evening and weekend depending upon coach/rider availability. Part-board includes 2 private or semi-private lessons per week, and a minimum of one free-ride per week with the potential for more free-rides as desired. Briar is equipped with her own tack (a dressage and all-purpose saddle, and a western saddle), though saddles are all on the large side (18” seat). Feel free to contact me for any questions!
