No Longer Available - Standardbred Gelding $4,500

8 year old easy keeper gelding for sale due to no fault of his own. ***previously posted at a different age, however I had his age mixed up with one of my donkeys. Standardbred. Approx 15 2 hands. Possibly a little taller. When I bought this horse, I had intentions on getting into riding but unfortunately, I don't have time. When I bought him, he was suitable as a beginner friendly horse, however, he has now sat for too long and needs a refresher and an experienced rider to get him back to his beginner friendly state. when I first brought him home, he could sit in the field for months and then get on and go, but he hasn't been ridden since fall of 2024 and needs someone with experience. He is a super easy keeper. I don't know a whole lot about horses, and he gets very minimal but keeps in great shape. Eating hay, grass, mineral and a scoop of pellets every once in a while, but not often. He is super easy to catch. He used to free range a 40-acre pasture and as long as he could see that you were walking out to the pasture he would come to you. He loves attention. He wouldn't miss the opportunity to get any treats or attention. He was much happier in the 40-acre pasture, he needs room to get his zoomies out. If he is kept in a smaller pasture, he gets easily excited and he needs time on a lunge line before riding him. If he is kept in a large area where he has room to run himself then you can saddle him without lunging. Before I bought him, he was at a boarding facility with other horses. While in my care he has lived with sheep, goats, cattle, poultry, and dogs. He is now in a small pasture with 2 donkeys and he is bored and gets easily excited. I am not a confident rider, and I just don't have the time for him or the knowledge of horses, so he is for sale. He's too good of a horse to just sit in a field. He is not going to be easy to load on a trailer. He used to get trailered every 8 weeks or so but that has also came to an end and now hes nervous of the trailer. He will come around again, just needs someone with experience and time. update: I had someone who knows horses come and check him out. They put a bridle and a saddle on him and walked him around on a lead rope. He chewed on the bit and was a little awkward about it because it has been a while, but he reacted well. The saddle going on him and tossing it over his back didn't faze him at all. He jerked his head around a little bit but was easily controlled and willing to listen to the handler. He walked forward, backward, and stopped when instructed. He didn't buck or rear at all. He picked up his feet when asked and behaved well. He was a little hesitant to be led away from his donkey friends and away from me while I was holding the treats, but with a quick walk in a circle he was easily redirected and listened to the handler. The girl who came to check him out said he would be a great barrel prospect or hunter/jumper. They also said he is in really good shape, clean legs, and he's a smart horse who has just sat for a while and needs a refresher.
