How do you choose the liner type you need for your Above-ground pool?

Above Ground Overlap Pool Liners

Above Ground Overlap Pool Liners are pulled over the wall and rolled up or cut off on the exterior side of the pool. Overlap liners can be installed so the Liner cannot be seen outside the pool. These liners have coping strips, round or flat plastic pieces that snap over the Liner's top to lock it in place. Above-ground overlap liners are the most prevalent type of Liner and are the most economical. The overlap liner is available in solid colours and full prints, just like the beaded Liner. We recommend this Liner for the DIY customer since it is the most forgiving of installation errors and can cause the least stress on your above-ground pool wall.

Above Ground Beaded Pool Liners

Standard Bead Above Ground Beaded Pool Liners

This popular Bead is the same as on an inground liner. To install a standard bead liner, you must have a coping installed on the pool wall called a bead receiver (which we sell). This is the best bead choice for customers building a deck around the top of their pool. Standard bead liners allow you to replace or change the pool liner without dismantling the top of the Above Ground Pool. When ordering a replacement liner, it is essential to know the pool wall height—48", 52" or 54" wall heights. Specific pool brands Kayak, Ester Williams and Wilkes have unique styles of beads and must be custom ordered. Like the Standard Bead, the Kayak® bead is designed for Kayak® pools and will only fit into the standard Kayak® bead receiver. The Esther Williams Bead is specific only for Esther Williams® or Johnny Weismeuller® pools. This larger, thicker bead will not fit into standard bead receiver tracks.

U or J Bead Above Ground Bead Pool Liner

The J or U Bead liner is easy to install; simply hang the Bead on the pool wall edge. No extra equipment is necessary to hold it in place. The UBead or J Bead design allows you to install the Liner without a bead receiver. The Bead makes the Liner install evenly around the pool edge, allowing liners to have patterns with borders. You must have the Manufacturer's suggested cove inside the pool to install this Liner. To change or replace this Liner at a future date, you must dismantle the top of the pool. The Wilkes Bead is a specific bead intended only for Wilkes®brand pools. It resembles a J-bead, just much smaller.

Multi-bead Above Ground Pool Liner

The multi-beaded Liner is the newest option available. This two-in-one Bead allows the customer to install the Liner with a bead receiver or over the pool wall's edge.

How to Measure Your Above-Ground Swimming Pool for a Replacement Liner

Measure twice; order once! Our simple measuring guide makes it easy to measure your pool. 

Remember to double-check your measurements for the perfect fit.

Measuring your pool is easier if you have another person helping you. Never assume your pool is standard. All manufacturers produce pools differently; therefore, all pools are different. Actual measurements should be taken of the pool even if you have the original plans. Installers may not have followed the plans and instructions precisely.

Please supply all measurements in feet and inches and round your measurements to the nearest whole inch. Do not make allowances for stretch or shrinkage. These calculations are made at our manufacturing facility.

Round Pool Liners

If you have a round above-ground pool, measure the diameter straight across the center at a couple of different spots, from inside the top of the pool liner wall to the top of the opposite wall. Do not use the ledge, as it hangs over the pool wall's edge. Above-ground pools can shift slightly (becoming less round in spots), so taking the average of 2 or 3 measurements is the best way to be accurate. Do not round off the number to the nearest foot; give the exact measurement. To measure the depth of the pool, you need to measure the outside of the pool wall. If you cannot measure the outside of the pool wall, we recommend ordering an overlap liner.

Oval Pool Liners

If your above-ground pool is oval, you will want to measure the length from end to end at the pool's center and the width in 2 or 3 spots. Then, take the average width from your measurements. Measure inside the top of the pool liner wall to inside the top of the opposite inside wall. Please do not use the ledge as it hangs over the pool wall's edge. We will need the measurements for the length and the width. To measure the depth of the pool, you need to measure the outside of the pool wall. If you cannot measure the outside of the pool wall, we recommend ordering an overlap liner.

Rectangular Pool Liners

If your above-ground pool is rectangular, measure its length and width and note its type of corners. Some rectangular pools have square 90-degree corners, some have diagonal corners, and some have rounded corners. If you are ordering a stock rectangular pool liner, it will have 90-degree (square) corners.

Pool Wall

When you measure the height of your pool wall, measure from outside the pool (not inside the pool), from the bottom rail to just under the top rail, to ensure the most accurate pool wall height. Above-ground pools should have coves and sand inside them. This will cause the measurement to be wrong if you measure the inside of the pool.

Round and Oval Above-ground pools typically have 48-inch, 52-inch or 54-inch high walls. Rectangle pools have many depths.
