Genuine Lead Crystal, Handcut starburst cut/pinwheel pattern. Western Germany Lead crystal is glass containing 10%–40% lead oxide, enhancing its brilliance, weight, and cut-glass patterns. It offers high light refraction, creating a "sparkle" or "pinging" sound, typically containing 24% or more lead oxide for high-quality pieces. Key Characteristics & Identification • Appearance: High clarity, brilliance, and sharp, intricate cuts. • Weight: Noticeably heavier than standard glass due to dense lead content. • Sound: Produces a high-pitched, long-lasting musical ring when tapped, unlike the dull thud of glass. • Refraction: Creates a visible rainbow prism effect when held to light. There are some minor chips along the inner rim of the bowl (see image #6 for example), that given the design of the piece are imperceptible to the eye, but I'd rather full disclosure.
