Rocky Mountain Vertex Youth Mountain Bike 24" Wheels

This youth hardtail mountain bike was used by my daughter and sons when they were between the ages of 8 and 10. They have since moved on to bigger bikes. The aluminum frame and decent quality components reduced the weight enough to make it manageable for the kids. It was well-maintained by the kids with help from dad and sometimes the bike shop. There is some cosmetic rust on the chain, but it is in good shape. After researching pricing, I dropped 100 bucks off so that you can take it to the shop for a tune-up if you wish. I hope many more kids can benefit from and enjoy this mountain bike. The geometry of the bike is relatively modern and was sufficient to ride on some single-track with dad, the dogs and the siblings. The front suspension fork is air-sprung, so it can be adjusted to rider weight. It also has a non-adjustable rebound damper in it to keep the fork under-control on fast descents. For my kids, this was the bike they really learned to ride trails on as it has more in common with larger and higher-end mountain bikes than it does with kids' bikes. For parts, the hydraulic disc brakes offer enhanced control and power for small hands trying to manage the bike's speed. A 1x9 drivetrain offers useful gearing options with a single shifter, avoiding the complexity of an additional shifter. A large Maxxis DHR II front tire provides enhanced braking and control while a slender Maxxis Snyper rear tire keeps the pedaling fast and low-resistance. Shimano components round-out the components including hubs, bb, brakes and Deore drivetrain. The cranks, however, are generic. Bear trap pedals offered the best compromise for my kids between getting grip without sharp pins. We're hoping this mountain bike will be loved by many more kids! I'd prefer to drop it off or meet in the Cariboo Region and would prefer cash.
