Description

AYAM CEMANI chickens are entirely black! Black feathers, black skin, black meat and organs. If you don't know about this breed, google it!

The beginnings of the Ayam Cement are vague, to say the least. It possibly originated in Sumatra, where the original breed is now extinct. It is believed to be an offshoot of the Ayam Bekisar chicken, which lives on a small island in Indonesia.

Interestingly, this fowl has a very distinct crow and was used by seafarers as foghorns on the boats - a practice still used today. Ayam means chicken in the Indonesian language , but Cemani can either mean the 'village of Cement' in local dialect or ' solid black in Sanskrit.

It is said by some folks to be a landrace bird, but there is evidence that it was a developed breed at some point. It is not a chicken of the 'common people'. People of wealth and community standing have these birds as status symbols and take great care of them. They are thought of as good luck charms, with the blood and other parts of the bird used in traditional medicine preparations .

This is a 400 year old rare German breed ( Westfalische Totleger ) Death layer hens will lay ( approximately ) an egg a day until she dies. This is phenomenal considering in most chicken breeds, a good laying hen will lay for about 3 - 4 years. The average lifespan of Death Layers are 10-12 years. The perfect breed for peppers and worth their weight in gold.

AYAM KETAWA - ( also known as the laughing chicken ) Youtube "laughing chicken" to see, it's hilarious! This breed of chicken originated from Indonesia. It is one of several breeds of long-crowing chicken prized for the clarity and unusual length of their crows, that is similar to the human laugh. The breed held as a status symbol of the Buginese royal family, but has entered into higher popularity in recent times since the fall of the monarchy.
