Description

I bought these shoes for $1,000 CAN from the manufacturer in the UK. Then I paid customs fees and taxes worth $130. Then I paid a cobbler downtown Toronto $80 to put rubber protectors on the soles. And then I wore them once properly and discovered they were 1/2 size too small for me.

Embarrassingly stupid.

That is why I am selling them.

Altogether I paid over $1,250 for them. Selling for $360.

And the best part is you can try them on before you buy them because you really have to see, touch and feel the quality of these hand-made British shoes to appreciate it. They put Red Wings, Wesco and even Viberg to shame.

THE DESCRIPTION A heavy Derby shoe that bears the brogue detailing synonymous with true country shoes. The Bourton is a piece of Northampton shoemaking history, and today they are the go-to shoe for men all around the world.

A full bellows tongue is folded and attached to the shoe to provide a watertight seal, with the storm welt providing an additional watertight seal between the shoe's upper and sole. The profile of a Bourton is characteristically strong; with a solid sole unit and leather linings.

THE LEATHER Acorn Antique is the classic colour synonymous with our shoes and boots - a rich tan unique to Tricker's that is one of our best sellers.

Our Acorn Antique colourway works as well today as it has over the decades - it matches as well with a deep indigo denim as it does with Tweed Breeks and long socks.

This Bourton is made from calf leather. Calf leather is finer grained, and lighter in weight than the hide of older cattle, this means that it is also more supple. It is very durable in comparison to its thickness.

We advise using Neutral Polish to help maintain a pair of shoes in Acorn Antique. If you would like to add some more colour to your Acorn Antique leather then we advise using Fawn Polish. If you have a natural welt on your footwear then please be careful when using Fawn Polish as using Fawn polish on a natural welt then it will stain.

THE FIT This last has been used for decades. It is part of our history and character as England's oldest shoe manufacturer.

The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last (4444) is larger than a regular UK size by half a size. If you are unsure of your UK size, use our size guide to convert your known size to a UK size. Then take off half a size.

So if you normally take a UK size 8 (equivalent to US size 9, Japan size 27 and EU size 42), we recommend you order a size 7½ and so on.
