Allen Edmonds Wilbert 9 3E chili brown casual comfort shoe
Allen Edmonds Wilbert 9 3E EEE chili brown
These thangs are built for comfort, not speed ;)
This particular pair is very roomy for a size 9, and quite wide I find. They are also quite comfortable, as the Allen Edmonds description below indicates.
The rubber sole would be good for wettish weather - much better than leather for that.
Worn mostly indoors by me, and very little at that.
According to AE: " year in and year out this model is our top-selling casual shoe". Check out the reviews on the AE site, Zappos or even Amazon - generally very favourable.
Recraftable if you ever wear out the soles.
Fair disclosure: while the finish on this pair is generally very good there are some slight discolouration patches where the finish isn't perfectly uniform. The pictures show these. While to these eyes they pass the 6 foot test, I have therefore factored that into the asking price. I have also coated them with a fresh application of Allen Edmonds brown Aqua Care, so we are good to go for casual wear protected from the elements. Consider them as having a much-desired patina ;)
I gather these are still being made in the good ole USA at their Wisconsin facility. They currently retail for $295 USD.
Price: $125 Cdn firm

WILBERT COMFORT SHOES OVERVIEW Part of the origin of the name Wilbert comes from the German word berühmt, which means famous. We have to admit we didn't know this when we named the shoe, but we feel pretty good about it considering the fact that year in and year out this model is our top-selling casual shoe. Popularity can be a hard thing to gauge, but we believe men love this five-eyelet blucher because of its robust look, thanks to the heftiness of the split reverse welt and Othello rubber outsole. That kind of strong construction makes it perfect for your weekend activities like going to ballpark or grilling in the backyard, but remember the Wilbert didn't become a bestseller by being a one-trick pony. Made on the 1-Last with handsome burnished leather and featuring contrast stitching on the overlay plug that it is sure to play up the other elements of your wardrobe, this shoe doesn't sacrifice beauty for brawn. Add in the comfortable leather wrapped PORON® cushion inner sole and we think you'll want to be a part of the crowd that the Wilbert is always pleasing.
