Description

Selling my anti-depressant.

This bike has the ability of turning a horrible day into an exciting fun-filled adventure on or off the road. It melts away stress and promotes big smiles.

About the bike…

I ran Pirelli MT 21’s (street legal knobby’s) for a couple years however; I noticed they wear incredibly fast on asphalt . I also noticed the front tire had an incredible wear every second row of knobs was completely worn off tire and the other rows of knobs looked unworn. It was quite amusing to see.

The Pirelli’s were a serious upgrade from the original tires. The original tires didn’t perform well on dirt or the street. When I installed the Pirelli’s I thought I’d be driving off-road more often than I did.

Due to the fact most of my riding is on easy trails, roads, bike paths etc. I replaced the knobby’s with Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires. These tires suit my driving since I’m not a fan of playing in the mud. These tires are exceptional on the road, and surprisingly good on the trails. These tires are not good for mud. (Did I mention I’m not a fan of the mud?)

This bike comes with a cover / bag. I use the cover to keep eyes off as well as the dust. It is parked in an underground parkade and it’s best if people don’t see it. I also have a grenade lock which goes through the rear disc brake to stop the bike from being rolled away.

I have installed case savers - as the cases are apparently very thin and it is recommended by everyone in all the DRZ forums. I have installed a sight glass over the oil filter, so you can always see at a glance that there is oil in the engine.

I have removed the stock tail light assembly and switched it out for a tidy tail. Unfortunately last year I missed the brake pedal and looped it breaking the tail light. I put a couple elastics over a red lens so the police wouldn’t pull me over for a broken tail light and so my wife wouldn’t notice I wiped out again.

I have a new tidy tail and set of signal lights ready to switch out with the broken ones however; I am not allowed to work on anything in the underground parkade. It has poor lighting and no place to plug in a lamp so I can see what I’m doing. So although I have the parts it hasn’t been changed yet. Yes, it will come with the bike.

My last outing was “way above my skill level.” I got into some situations where I deemed it necessary to get a bash plate. So once again; I have a bash plate but; I have not installed it as of yet. Yes; it will come with the bike.

One of the best installs was the seat concepts seat. The seat is actually lower to the ground than the factory seat (I’m short) and it is so much more comfortable that you can ride for much longer outings. Original seat is available if you’re a real hard-ass.

I installed a tool tube. Yes it’s secure as I figured out a way to lock it. Actually the DRZ is so reliable you don’t really need to pack tools however it is always thoughtful to pack a descent rope so you can always tow your friend and his KTM to the gas station…or home if his situation is dire.

I installed a steel rack which you can bungee things onto the back and reinstalled the original rear storage bag. I kept a raincoat in it - until someone stole it.

The rack bolts on the bike utilizing the holes where the seat bolts go in and some little spacers which make it tricky to reinstall the seat. Because of this situation I’ve installed the leads for a battery tender. Yes I’ll include it and you can charge the battery without removing the seat. I recommend charging it at least twice throughout the winter season. (If you let the battery get too low ~ the battery tender won’t charge it)

Moving to the front of the bike ~ I installed bark busters. They are great for keeping your hands safe.

I also installed a 2 finger clutch lever. This allows me to use the clutch while still holding the handlebars with the thumb and other two fingers. I only use 1 finger on the front brake and I never use it so hard that the lever is hitting the other fingers wrapped around the handlebars. Anyone who rides a dirt bike knows to never let go of the handlebars to grab the clutch or front brake.

I installed a RAM mount for my cell phone. It is a great quality as I’ve dropped the bike (crashed) with the phone in the mount and it never fell out. I was pleasantly surprised.

I got a motodash and installed a volt meter & USB charging port just to be sure I was never stranded with a dead phone. The motodash actually makes it look like the USB charging port comes as standard equipment from the factory. It looks good.

Unfortunately these USB charging ports are from China. I thought I had one of them break; however it was merely the fuse burnt out. I thought that it was just less than ideal Chinese quality. I bought 2 more of them figuring they don’t last long. While I was changing the part I realized there was nothing wrong with the part, it was a blown fuse. Once again the voltmeter/USB port isn’t working. Whether it is the fuse again, or the wire at the base of the unit came off, or the part actually broke this time is unknown to me right now. Yes, I have a couple extra of these Voltmeter/USB parts which I will include with the bike.

I have only done 1 engine modification. I cut the 3” X 3” hole in the airbox, and covered it with FrogZskin so it can suck air through and water will not leak through the airbox. FrogZskin is more popular with the snowmobiling community however this is the perfect mod to use it with on a motorcycle.

With the ability for the engine to breathe easier I re-jetted the carburetor using JD Jetting. A baffle was also removed to allow the maximum airflow through the engine. This is the most often talked about modification throughout the DRZ forums.

Although many people claim this adds so much power, I would state it as “just waking the engine up”. The engine comes with about 36hp and really adding another 3 – 4 hp wakes it up, but it isn’t like adding 50% or even 25% more power. Many of these people in the forms think this modification is life-changing. I’m happy I did the modification as it does wake the bike up a little. It is certainly not life-changing as others may have you believe. Yes you’ll pull away from a stock DRZ but you’re still not going to catch that darned KTM.

I believe that I’ve given you the complete story of my DRZ-400. If you’ve read this far then all that’s left is for you to gather up your cash and come by to pick it up.

The bike, all the spare parts, the cover and lock.

Call or text me. I do not respond very quickly to messages on the system. Half the time I don’t even know anyone messaged me through the system. My phone on the other hand gets calls returned and texting usually works best, especially when I’m busy.
