Piano and/or Theory Lessons - downtown/St. Lawrence Market area

George Street & Adelaide Street East, Toronto, Canada(View Map)

March 2020. Thank you for replying to my kijiji ad. Please take the time to read the whole ad. It will take a few minutes! My name is Bob Jennings. I work both as a composer and piano/theory teacher. In the last twenty years, adults (and high school students) have been taking weekly lessons from me. (Presently my oldest student, who is 86, started with me last year!) I live downtown, in a condo on George Street, two blocks northeast of the St. Lawrence Market (which is located at the intersection of Front and Jarvis Streets) One can easily get to my building by walking, or by either taking the Queen or King streetcars. Also, for those driving, there is limited street parking on George Street itself. Some of my students take lessons on weekdays, in the afternoon/evening. I do not teach on Fridays - my day off. Some students coming to me are beginners; others took lessons in their youth. I teach all kinds of music; classical, improvisational, popular, and composition. Some students study music theory with me as well. (If a student wants to take Royal Conservatory exams with me, (however - most adults do not want to), it can easily be arranged/accommodated.) However, most adults prefer learning at their own pace, enjoying the process, without formal exams. Students come to my home once weekly - I appreciate students that come each and every week, consistently. If I do not receive 24 hours notice, students pay for absent lessons. My latest musical compositions can be heard both on Spotify and on iTunes. I am listed under “Robert Jennings Inner Sanctuary” and "Robert Jennings Rendezvous”. “Inner Sanctuary” is an orchestral work. “Rendezvous” is a solo piano work. My background? I have an Honours Bachelor of Music from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Education (Music Vocal) from the University of Western Ontario. For several years I was a schoolteacher for the Toronto District School Board. I'm now thoroughly enjoying "early retirement". I have been one of the lucky few who can play by ear as well as from the written score. Sometimes I am hired to play the piano for parties and other events. Composing is my greatest passion. Beginner students pay $ 25 for each half - hour lesson. However, most of my students choose to have 45 - minute lessons for $ 37.50 each. Coming at the same time and day, weekly is appreciated. Students are expected to come once weekly. I do not recommend students coming every two weeks. It just doesn't work out. I am flexible - to a point - with make-up lessons, when I am treated as a professional, an instructor whose time matters. Constant "no shows" are of no interest/value to me. If you are interested in emailing me, please email me at.... c a n a d i a n c o m p o s e r @ g m a i l . c o m (without the spaces) Questions for you to please answer while replying to me…. Have you taken lessons before? Do you have a keyboard and/or piano? What are your goals? Do you live downtown? When are you available to come for lessons? Thank you for your interest. Looking forward to corresponding (with) and meeting you. There is no charge for the first visit. Thank you for your time and patience. After the initial email from you, I will provide you with my phone number, and specific address, including the buzz code for my building. Bob Jennings
