Online Saxophone and Clarinet Lessons
I am offering saxophone and clarinet lessons to anyone looking to improve their performance and knowledge of music. Following current protocols for social-distancing, I will be offering ONLINE lessons for the time being, using the Zoom teleconferencing application. This application is similar to Skype, and is available for PC, Mac, or mobile device.
A graduate of Carleton University's Bachelor of Music program, where I focused on jazz performance, I have played in many groups across Ottawa, and have played the Ottawa Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, among others. Current projects include hyper funk powerhouse Eru-Era, the 11-piece Sly High – Canada's #1 tribute to Sly and the Family Stone, jazz fusion outfit PreDestined, and Ottawa’s own soul band The Hornettes. I also play as a session musician and sideman for various other projects.
Through 22 years of performing and 19 years of both private and group teaching I have developed a knowledgeable and variable approach to assessing the needs of individual students and helping them towards their musical goals. Whether for school, auditions, or personal enjoyment, I can tailor a program to suit the student, and teach them the fundamental principles of music and their instrument. I am passionate about music and encourage students to develop their musical skills and tastes.
Standard lesson material includes:
Technique Theory Reading Ear training Style elements Improvisation
