IAN MARTENS GUITAR STUDIOS

NEW STUDENTS WELCOME!

For all new students to our studio we offer a two month introductory course which is either 8-30 minute lessons once each week or 4-60 minute lessons every two weeks. After the introductory course, you can continue to the end of the teaching season in your reserved lesson spot.

We accept students at any age and skill level and lessons are custom fit to suit their level and musical goals.

We use proven methods to teach everything from reading music and theory to ear training to improvising to songwriting.

Ian studied music education at the University of Saskatchewan and has been teaching and performing since the late ‘80’s. We are currently in our 22nd year at our current location!

GUITAR AND BASS LESSONS: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Country, Classical, Finger Style. Beginner guitar and bass students start with basic chord songs and use of a method book. Note reading, theory, and technique building exercises that include scales and arpeggios, are studied by students of all levels. Popular songs of all styles are studied. Ear training and improvisation. Lessons for ages 6 and up. Private lessons.

VOICE LESSONS: Singing Success Method for Vocals - Rock and Pop. Lessons for ages 12 and up. Private lessons.

UKULELE LESSONS: Lessons for ages 5 and up. Private lessons.

BANJO LESSONS Beginner banjo lessons for ages 8 and up. Private lessons.

My son has taken guitar lessons from Ian for a number of years. I took bass guitar lessons from Mr. Martens for two years. Although I had been playing bass for several years, Mr. Martens was my first professional instructor. Mr. Martens is extremely knowledgeable, and has a large repertoire of various styles of music; I always played something that I found interesting and challenging. I learned so much from him over those two years (everything from playing scales to writing my own bass lines), but the most important lesson that I learned from Mr. Martens was to be confident and enjoy playing.
