I started my music journey like many children do around 6 years old in traditional private music lessons. My first instrument of study was piano and soon doubled into voice. Beyond solo performances I moved into a leadership role running a youth choir where I first played music with other instrumentalists. I trained in classical piano and voice for 14 years before I was accepted to the Bachelor of Jazz and Contemporary Music program at MacEwan University. My program was short lived due to fracturing my wrist, however I took 2 years to recover in order to play at my skill level once more.
I first began teaching at a music centre in Sherwood Park, AB in 2013. Two years in while I was transitioning to work at another music centre in Edmonton, AB the music centre in Sherwood park closed it’s doors.
In 2015, while managing a music lessons centre I began teaching private lessons as my own business by traveling to my student’s residence.
Now, in the fall of 2020 I have stepped away from full time employment to focus on my teaching practice. I am currently accepting new students.
I teach Beginner to Advanced Piano, Voice, and Theory, Beginner to Intermediate Guitar, Ukulele, and Violin. Piano and Voice are my main instruments and I must assess the student’s level of Guitar, Uke, or Violin to determine if I am a suitable instructor or to refer to someone more advanced.
Reach out if you have any questions. I’d be happy to explore curriculum options, explain my teaching styles, talk about recitals and all the goodies that go with my teaching experience.
