RARE BOOK - “Albemarle: A History Of The Township”, Bruce County

This is a very rare, difficult local history book to find of Albemarle Township located just north of Wiarton in Bruce County, Ontario. Author: Albemarle Township Historical Society, 1991. Self-Published Hardcover with dust jacket cover. Overall, would consider this book to be in good to very good condition. The hardcover and content pages are intact. There is an inscription inside the front cover to a previous owner of this book. The dust jacket cover shows some edgewear and some minor tears. Noteworthy about the front cover of the dust jacket, it depicts a pioneer family in midsummer crossing Albemarle Brook. The original oil painting of this was done by renown local and resident artist Paul Duff who lived just off Highway 6, north of the community of Mar. Please carefully review all photos for details and condition of this item. Book Dimensions - 8 3/4 inches x 11 1/4 inches x 1 inches. 339 pages, including illustrated maps, documents and numerous black and white photos. Please refer to the last page for a listing of the Table of Contents. Inside the book under the various communities within this township there are write ups of various families having lived there. In one of the Appendixes to this book there is a listing of Albemarle Township Society Membership. In another Appendix, there are listing of families from census records from 1861 tom1891. This book will appeal to local history buffs, descendants from this area and those currently residing within. Those with an interest in family genealogy may find this book useful.
