The New BMW Guide by Ron Wakefield
(Modern automotive series)
The author fully covers BMW's history in detail from 1952 through 1978, and no fewer than 69 distinct models- every significant variation including American models- have come under his 'microscope'.
In addition to relating the intriguing stories of the development of each series of post-war BMWs, the author has catalogued, with complete complete specifications, each of the 69 models, and includes at least one photo of each. Covering every model from the 501 and the famed 507 through the egg-shaped Isetta, the 1500, and the 630 CSi, up to the radical new mid-engined M1, the catalog alone makes the book essential for fans of fine, fast cars.
ncluding catalog and index, maintenance, repair, contemporary models and specs for 69 different BMWs,
Ron Wakefield is an automotive journalist who first became Technical Editor of Road & Track magazine in 1965, then Engineering Editor, then Editor, then European Editor, then a freelancer trying to contribute what he could to R&T and other car mags in other countries. Most recently he was a writer, editor and consultant for BMW of North America, creating much of the training material for dealership personnel from the mid-1980s on.
