Description

To The Indies by FORESTER, C. S., published by Toronto: S. J. Reginald Saunders, 1940. First Edition

Condition: Spans 298 pages, securely bound with maps on the front and back endpapers providing additional context. The green cloth hardcover, adorned with gilt decoration, adds an elegant touch. A minor flaw is present – a crease and small tear on the top right corner of page 23 (refer to the gallery for a visual).

Book Synopsis: Set in the late fifteenth century in the newly discovered West Indies region, “To The Indies” follows the journey of Narciso Rich, a prominent Spanish lawyer, on a voyage to the Indies. The ship, the Holy Name, is captained by none other than the Admiral himself, an aging sailor struck by rheumatism. In a surprising twist, the Admiral is revealed to be Christopher Columbus, the explorer who discovered the West Indies a few years earlier. Rich’s seemingly straightforward journey unfolds into a tale of adventure, discovery, and personal transformation.
