Antique 1948 International Model LB 3-5hp Stationary Gas Engine
Description
This engine was restored by the previous owner (including having the magneto professionally reconditioned), except for the original gas tank, which was rusted through. I bought and installed a new (reproduction) gas tank, as well as a water hopper cover and a photocopied manual, from Hit-N-Miss Enterprises.
I bought the engine in 2016 with the intention of using it to run my (also antique) small irrigation pump to water the garden at my property in central BC. But the combination of it’s excellent compression and my old shoulder injury means that I can’t really start it (I have run it a couple of times though). So it’s been sitting in covered storage ever since.
The only issue I know of is that the excess valve oil drain tube on the bottom of the valve cover got bumped off and needs to be soldered back on.
The Serial Number is LBB 70860 so it was made in 1948, the last year of production for these engines.
It weighs approximately 270lbs according to the Smokestak forum. It is rated at 3hp @ 600rpm and at 5hp @ 1000rpm.
Comes with the original gas tank (if you want to try repairing it). And of course it includes the photocopied manual, but a better quality and more complete manual is available for download here: http://www.staverloekk.no/jostein/motor/Dokument/International%20HC%20LB%20Man_parts.pdf
I paid $500 for the engine, plus about $150 for the new tank, hopper cover and manual. I just want to get my money back. I might consider a trade/part trade for a buzz saw in good condition or Milwaukee or Ryobi cordless tools.

Note: Although the Kijiji address says Argenta, I am actually in Johnson's Landing.
