FACULTY OF KINESIOLOGY

The Andrew and Marjorie McCain Human Performance Laboratory is a research, education, and clinical service facility within the Faculty of Kinesiology at the UNB. The mission of the state-of-the-art laboratory is to discover, disseminate, and apply knowledge in biomechanics and neuromuscular physiology of human movement. The goal of the Andrew and Marjorie McCain Lab Research Group is to increase its understanding of human performance, movement impairments and develop innovative approaches to help Canadians achieve optimal function.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 1-Year Term | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $54,358 - $70,655 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Directors of the Andrew and Marjorie McCain Human Performance Laboratory, the Biomedical Engineering Technical Officer designs, collects, and analyzes 3D biomechanical and neuromuscular physiology data that support and enhance the Human Performance Lab research agenda.

  • Develop and maintain data science and complex analytics on machine learning and deep learning.
  • Provide biomedical engineering technical expertise and support for the research projects.
  • Install and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adequate performance.
  • Ensure hardware integration, calibration, system performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of research projects in biomedical engineering.
  • Collaborate on academic, clinical, and industrial research projects.
  • Write research papers, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Complete lab demonstrations.
  • Conduct presentations, and workshops to promote the Human Performance Lab.
  • Provide community service through the Human Performance Lab.
  • Maintain the Human Performance Lab Social Media Pages.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A University Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience working in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with complex statistical analysis of 3D biomechanical and neuromuscular physiology.

Additional Strengths

  • Programming (e.g. MATLAB, Python).
  • Data science skills, including data management, AI analyses, app development, and complex statistical analysis of 3D biomechanical and neuromuscular physiology data.
  • Strong skills in biomedical engineering instrumentation, human research experimental protocols.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
