Here is a lightly used copy of Arling Schaeffer's Barn Dance book covering the world's greatest collection of quadrilles, jigs, reels and hornpipes including all calls. It also shows how to line up the dancers for quadrilles and jigs. If you are reading this you will already be a student of music and probably know that Schaeffer was an early American composer, arranger and musican. He was known for his mastery of fretted instruments especially the guitar, mandolin and ukulele. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1859. The book began printing in 1932 and although this original copy does not show a publication date, it was produced by the M.M. Cole Publishing Co. Chicago. All the references on this book point to the interesting cover depicting early barn dancers doing a promenade while the barn yard donkey kicks up his heels.
