Solitude, Sea Ray 270, 1991
Overview
- Make: Sea Ray Boats
- Model: 270
- Year: 1991
Description
You can seek solitude—or go boating with good friends—on this versatile 27 foot cabin cruiser. Kept in covered moorage in Nanaimo since we bought her, Solitude’s powered by twin Inboard/Outboard (Stern drive) MerCruiser V6 gasoline engines. It’s set up to accommodate three or four adult boaters comfortably, or a family of four. Solitude runs most efficiently at 6.5 knots (12 km/h), but slips easily onto the plane and stays there at 22 kn (41 km/h), reaching 29 kn (54 km/h) at wide open throttle. The boat has no trailer but the covered moorage rental can be taken over by the new owner if desired. A survey in 2021 valued the boat at $28,000 dollars. We are asking less and will consider reasonable offers. This survey will be made available to serious buyers. Reason for selling? We bought a larger boat.
ACCOMMODATION
Solitude’s V-berth sleeps two in the bow of the cabin. A second berth aft sleeps two kids, one adult or a romantic couple. In a pinch the dinette can convert to accommodate a third couple. There are two closets in the cabin. The Galley has food preparation and clean up on the starboard side and a dinette that seats four on the port. It has a sink with hot and cold running water, a small fridge (12 volt plus 110 volt). The two burner stove-top runs on electricity when Solitude’s plugged into shore power or alcohol while at anchor. There’s also a small microwave that runs off shore power. Food storage can be found under and over the sink, as well as in other drawers around the dinette. The Head is a separate room on the starboard side, with a sink and hot / cold water. The electric macerating toilet empties into a holding tank which can be pumped out or pumped overboard. A gauge on the instrument panel lets you know when it’s full. Covered shelves by the dinette store safety and other gear near the doorway. The galley has a cassette player with speakers in the cabin and on the bridge. A built in electric heater helps extend the boating season, again when plugged into shore power. Solitude comes with a 30 amp power cord, fenders and mooring lines.
BRIDGE
The bridge seats four comfortably but easily holds six adults using its fold out rear seat. It has basic instrumentation: engine temp, oil pressure, and voltage for each engine. A fuel gauge, clock, speedometer, and of course compass are present. There’s also a pair of temperamental tachometers, but the boat includes a reliable engine synchronization gauge. The Humminbird 1158 chart plotter with its 10 and a half inch screen shows speed, true heading and water depth, as well as your location and the route you’ve traveled. Its transducer has a fish finding feature as well. An Icom VHF radio with DSC keeps you linked to other boaters.
ENGINES
Solitude is powered by two MerCruiser gasoline engines, each based on the Chevrolet 4.3 litre V6. These 190 hp fresh-water-cooled engines (the antifreeze is cooled in heat-exchangers) power the boat through two MerCruiser Alpha One / Generation 2 legs with contra-rotating props. The engine hour gauges are located at the top of the bilge; when last checked they showed 1327 hours for the port engine and 1333 for the starboard. IMPROVEMENTS - replaced anchor with a Rocna 15 kg galvanized anchor on the original all chain rode (2017) - a spare Danforth anchor is stored under the V berth - replaced original chart-plotter with the Humminbird 1158 with e-charts for the west coast—NOT shown in the bridge photo (2017). - replaced anchor windlass with new one (2017) - replaced VHF radio with a two year old Icom VHF radio with DSC (2017) - repainted lower hull with anti-fouling paint (2021) - replaced house battery (2022) - installed smoke / carbon monoxide alarm (2022) - update flares every four years (latest in 2023) - touched up hull antifouling paint (2023) - repainted both legs with antifouling paint (2023) - had top U joints and shaft replaced on starboard leg (2023) - had bottom portion of port leg replaced (2023) - had new solenoid and bilge pump installed with some rewiring (2023) - had oil in the engines and legs changed (latest in 2023)
