History: Jelly was found by an American on vacation. She stayed with her while she was there and Jelly considered her as her safe place and owner. Then the American left and Jelly was left behind in a kennel where she was caged 24/7. The American said that street dogs had been trying to attack her and felt she was safer in the kennel. A local rescue in Delhi found out about her and took her in. They reached out to us at Niagara Dog Rescue and asked if we would be able to bring her to Canada for the chance at a better life with a loving family.

Foster comments: Jelly is the sweetest dog. She adores and seeks out affection at any opportunity by nudging your hand with her nose. Though she is still a bit cautious of quick hand movements or loud talking, she's gotten over most of her distrust for humans. She will even initiate a hello to strangers while on walks.

She's very intelligent, and is eager to please her humans which makes her a fun dog to train. She knows cues to sit, down, lay, place, wait, and has a good understanding of the word 'no' in almost all situations. You won't need to worry about accidents in the house with this girl - she totally understands that outside is where business is done.

Jelly's personality really shines these days - she will play tug, fetch and return a toy, figure out puzzles, and loves to track and search for hidden rewards. Jelly gets a 30 minute walk each day that's designated solely to sniffing to give her a chance to connect with her surroundings since she's probably missing that element of her former streetlife. Enrichment activities that have her using her senses have helped a ton with her progress.

Jelly is fantastic at matching energy. If you want to play or go for a walk - so does she. If you want to chill out and watch hockey or a movie - she's all in for that too. Her forever family will have a lot of fun working with her to create a bond and continue to develop her confidence. Jelly is the ideal match for anyone who is looking for a loyal sidekick and true companion. Though the first years of her life were pretty rough (and she has the scars to prove it), she's left that all behind and is excited to meet the people who will love her as much as she does them.
