Are you “vertically challenged” ? Tired of being ripped off at the gas pump ?? Need to get rid of that muffin top after a long cold winter indoors ?? This bike may just what you need to solve those problems.....and have fun doing it.

BACK STORY The guy that bought this bike new certainly didn’t ride it very much.....and also kept it indoors. Miyata is the oldest Japanese bike manufacturer, having built their first bike in 1890. This is an absolutely mint example of Japanese craftsmanship. This bike was built almost at the beginning of the 12 speed road bike era when they were really taking over the market.

BIKE SIZE STUFF This bike has a SMALL 21 inch (53 cm) frame with a ~31 inch (~78 cm) stand-over height so is suited to someone between 5 feet 5 inches (~165 cm) and 5 feet 9 inches (~175 cm) in height.

RIDE STUFF This bike rides, shifts and brakes like new. The only noise you can hear when you’re rolling along is the hiss of the tires. It truly needs nothing but you to ride it. Check below for the work I’ve done to bring this fine example of 1980s Japanese bike manufacturing back to life.

BIKE CONDITION STUFF Everything that needed to be cleaned and lubed has been done. Front and rear wheel bearings, drive chain, front and rear derailleurs, brake and shifter cables and freewheel have all been cleaned and lubed. The bike is about 90% original with only the very minimum of items replaced to ensure safe riding. BTW, the rim flanges show little to no wear from the brake pads which is amazing on a bike of this vintage. This is another welcome sign that this bike has hardly been used. The original “Quicksilver” paint AND clearcoat are in amazing condition.

BORING BIKE EQUIPMENT STUFF Frame: Miyata “Mangalight” manganese lightweight alloy steel, triple butted, The whole bike only weighs 27 pounds (~12 kg) Front derailleur: Shimano Z202 Rear derailleur: Shimano Z501 (an OE version of the famous Shimano Crane) Chain: Shimano “UniGlide” 3/32", black Freewheel: Shimano MF-Z012 “UniGlide” - 6 cogs 14 - 28 teeth Shift lever assembly: Shimano Z401 Brakes: Shimano Z570 cast aluminum alloy side pull caliper Crank Assembly: SR (Sakae Ringgyo) CTC-5DXC with 2 chainwheels 42 & 52 teeth and 170mm forged aluminum crank arms Rims: Araya 27 x 1¼ - model SP30 anodized aluminum - 36 spoke
