The character of Côte-des-Neiges is exemplified by its calm environment. There is a good amount of greenery in this part of Montréal as the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is reasonably good. It is very easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are around 20 of them close by for residents to unwind in. This area is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case close to one of the railway lines or Autoroute Décarie.
