For wool carpets, dents are easy to remove with steam and heat. Gently press a steam iron onto a cloth, over the dent. Move the iron back-and-forth for about 10 to 15 seconds. The heat and moisture from the steam will relax the wool fibers, allowing them to regain their original shape. There's guidance on this everywhere.
